The Silent Patient

Rating: 4/5

I was hesitant to read this book because I thought it would be a type of horror or scary book to read but it's not.

The silent patient is a thought-provoking book that keeps you on your feet. I honestly did not see the ending coming! This book is more than just a mystery about the death of a husband. It is about the lives of the people and the decisions made before, during, and after. It makes you think about how decisions can affect the outcome of not only yourself but others.

This murder mystery surrounds Alice who after murdering her husband never speaks another word again. She is sent into a secure place called the Grove to keep her away from the spotlight. As we learn more about her, we learn more about one of criminal psychotherapists who comes to the Grove specifically to see her and get her to speak about what happens that night. As secrets unfold we learn that not everyone wants the truth to resurface.

This is my first time reading a book by Alex Michaelides. and it was a game-changer. Alex has a way of telling stories that make you resonate with the characters. I will definitely be reading more of Alex Michaelides's books. I may reread the book again to see all the things I missed the first time. If you're on the cusp of reading it, my advice, take the leap. You won't be sorry.
